Those passionate about their love for Lake Mitchell liken the experience of enjoying it’s pleasures to a secret to be passed on only to those who are worthy to know it. It has a magnetic appeal for those who visit it that develops into a love affair for many.

Why? It’s the communal, small town feel that you can’t get on larger lakes covered with boats, houses and people. It feels like you are going back in time to a slower less frenetic era.

Mitchell Reservoir is a 5,850 acre recreational lake located about ten miles east of Clanton and I-65 in central Alabama.  Mitchell is the smallest impoundment of the Coosa River chain of lakes. Part of the lake is surrounded by a wildlife refuge and undeveloped and may remain that way. The lake level typically does not fluctuate except for during brief periods of maintenance.
